2 people were killed and 4 others injured in a shooting at a museum in southwest Ohio, authorities said Sunday.
“The suspect in this incident is deceased,” Columbus police said in a statement.
“The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
A man was in custody, and authorities said the shooter was not on the loose.
Investigators did not release a motive for the shooting, and Ohio State Police said they were still looking into the circumstances.
Police said the shooting took place at the Ohio State Fairgrounds at Ohio State University, where thousands of people were enjoying the fair, a gathering that is traditionally a safe haven for families and friends.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his 30s, wearing a black baseball cap, blue jeans, and black shoes, police said.
A suspect was arrested about a half-hour after the shooting and is being held at a Columbus, Ohio, jail, police told CNN.
Authorities had asked the public to shelter in place and stay away from the area Sunday night.
Authorities said the investigation was ongoing and that witnesses were being interviewed.
